Useful tips:
Make sure you have created all items, item categories or targets you wish to apply to your promotion or punch card, before starting the configuration!
Creating a test promotion is always a good idea to ensure that your will not run into any glitches on go-live day!
You can create a special target that contains only those allowed to test your promotion and apply it to your test promotion configuration. This target can be reused for all promo testing in the future!
Clarification:
Our Discount functionalities are only available on our DC PRO package and with specific POS integrations. If you wish to use this feature, please reach out to your DataCandy contact to find out if they are the right match for you.
Points or Discount Promotions
First, setup the type and availability of your promotion:
From the main menu select Offers / Promotions / Add.
Select the Trigger and Type of Reward you wish to use and click Next.
On the configuration screen, enter a Name for your promotion and a Description. The offer name will appear on the Offers tab of the member portal.
Enter an External Reference. This is optional.
Select the Active status.
If Yes is selected, the promotion will automatically start on the selected start date and be displayed in the Offers tab of your member portal.
If No is selected, the promotion can still be saved but it will not start automatically until the active field is set to yes at a later date.
Select the time zone you wish to run this promotion on. We recommend you always utlise "Each Merchant's Time Zone".
Select your start and end date.
Note that if the end date is left empty, the promotion will run until it is manually stopped.
You may set a specific start and end time if you wish. By default our platform will suggest 00:00 if the start date is in the future. If the start date is today, the promotion will start, at the earliest, 45 min after it is configured.
For a one-day promotion, set the start and end dates to the same date.
If applicable select the promotion recurrence. If selected, the promotion will automatically run on the days selected, and stop once the period has ended.
You may select a daily, weekly or monthly recurrence. This is similar to setting a recurring calendar invitation!
You will need to set an end to the recurrence, wether it is on a specific date or after a certain number of ocurrences.
You can set an event duration in hours. if you wish for the offer to run the whole day, you can set it to 24 hours.
Select the Paid by merchant. This is the merchant that will pay for the promotional points.
Select the "headoffice" to have that entity cover the cost generated at all the participating merchants.
Select “Participating Merchant” to have the merchant where the transaction takes place pay for the promotional points awarded at their location.
For discount promotions, no selection is required since the discount happens at the merchant.
Select Availability. This is where the promotion will be valid.
All merchants will apply the promotions at every location
One or more merchant subcategories will apply the promotions only at the selected merchant groups.
One or more merchants will apply the promotions only at the selected merchants.
Select a Target; you must have created your target beforehand if you wish to select it from the drop down menu. If you wish all loyalty members to have access to the promotion, leave this unticked and blank!
Select wether the bonus points can be obtained only once (Single use = Yes) or unlimited times (Single use = No) during the duration of your promotion.
Next, setup your trigger and threshold details:
If your promotion is based on Spend, you may skip this section and go directly to defining the promotion and spend threshold!
Trigger based on items
Select the Eligible Items Rule that may trigger the bonus points or discount.
All items : To be eligible, the member must purchase one item from each item group listed in the next section.
Any items: To be eligible, the member must purchase one item from any of the item groups listed in the next section.
All items excluded those listed below : To be eligible, the member can purchase any item excluding the items listed in the next section.
Define your item groups in the Eligible Items section.
Click on the blue text or select Add
Define the minimum quantity of eligible items the member must purchase, for each item group you configure.
Start typing the item name or SKU you wish to add ; this will search the item amongst the list of items you have previously created in DataCandy.
Select the item by ticking the checkbox and then click Add ; only when the item is listed in the "Selected item" section below will have been succefully added to your promotion.
Once all items have been added to the item group, select Save Changes
Repeat these steps until you have added as many item groups as you need.
Useful tip:
Here is an example to illustrate these rules! If you wish your member to buy 1 drink and 1 burger to trigger your promotion, you will need to:
Select All items in the eligible items rule
List all drink items in one group, with minimum quantity of 1
List all burgers items in another group, with minimum quantity of 1
Trigger based on items categories
Select the Eligible Items Rule that may trigger the bonus points or discount.
An Item in Each Category: To be eligible, the member must purchase items in each of the categories listed in the next section.
Any Items in the Categories: To be eligible, the member must purchase items in at least one of the categories listed in the next section.
Items that Exist in All Categories: To be eligible, the member must purchase an item that belongs to all of the categories listed in the next section.
Note: This is especially useful for our thrift store clients! For example an item could be in the "Sweater" category and in the "Women" category; it needs to exist in both to be eligible for the promotion.
All Items Excluding Those in the Categories Listed Below : To be eligible, the member can purchase any item excluding those items from the categories that are listed in the next section.
Define your item categories in the Eligible Items from Categories section.
Click on the blue text or select Add
Define the minimum quantity of items the member must purchase in the category and start typing the name of your category. This will search the category amongst the list of categories you have previously created in DataCandy. All eligible categories will be displayed in the drop down menu for you to select.
Repeat these steps until you have added as many item categories as you need
And finally, define the points or discount that the member will receive, and the spend threshold required:
Discount
Select the type of discount: $, %, Discount Code.
Enter the desired discount in $ or % or enter the code.
Enter the minimum amount of money the member must spend to get the discount. If you wish for the promotion to be applied to all eligible transactions, set this amount as 1$.
If desired, click Add Level and repeat steps 1 - 3 for each additional level. Add as many levels as required. To delete a level, select it and click Remove Level.
Click Save.
Bonus Points
Select "bonus points" from the drop-down in the second field.
Enter the number of bonus points in the first field.
Note: If Any or All items is selected as the rule, enter the maximum number of items that will earn the bonus points in third field.
Enter the minimum amount of money the member must spend to get the bonus points in the last field. If you wish for the promotion to be applied to all eligible transactions, set this amount as 1$.
If desired, click Add Level and repeat steps 1 - 4 for each additional level. Add as many levels as required. To delete a level, select it and click Remove Level.
Click Save.
Multiplier Points
Select "times the usual points" from the drop-down in the second field.
Enter the points multiplier in the first field.
Note: If items are selected as the trigger, the points will be multiplied only on the price of items that are eligible, not on the whole transaction amount.
Enter the minimum amount of money the member must spend to get the multiplier points in the last field. If you wish for the promotion to be applied to all eligible transactions, set this amount as 1$.
If desired, click Add Level and repeat steps 1 - 3 for each additional level. Add as many levels as required. To delete a level, select it and click Remove Level.
Click Save.
Promotion Image
Once the promotion is saved, you have the ability of adding an image that will be displayed on the Offers tab of the member portal.
The image must be 411px wide x 279px high and in a .jpg or .png format.
Select Edit Images
Upload the image of your choice
Select Save
