New Password and/or Initialization Code

This section is used to generate a new password and/or an initialization code for a payment terminal or POS.

Caution:

Once a new merchant password is generated for an existing merchant, the terminal or POS will need to be reconfigured with the new code provided. Make sure to coordinate with your merchant on the best time to reset the password as it will interrupt all gift and loyalty operations!

Useful tips:

  • You can search for merchants who have or have not initialized a terminal with the Terminal Initialized criteria on the Merchant search screen. Note that if you are using the DataCandy solution on POS, this field is always blank.

  • The search results displays the date and time of initialization as does the Merchants details screen. If the terminal Initialized field is blank, it means no terminal has been initialized.

  • For merchants who have initialized more than one terminal or have initialized the same terminal more than once, only the last initialization is displayed.

  1. From the Merchant edit screen, navigate to the Password and Terminal Initialization Code area.

  2. To generate a new password, select Standard password. If you do not need a new merchant password, select Keep the same password.

  3. To generate a new code, select Generate New Terminal Initialization Code.

  4. Click Save. The password and/or the code will be auto-generated and displayed at the top of the screen.

  5. Provide the password and/or the code to the merchant.

  6. After the merchant performs the initialization, the Terminal Initialized date and time will be updated in the Merchant details screen.

Modify the Banking Information

If you are using the automated clearinghouse module (ACH), and need to modify the banking information of an existing merchant, you can do so anytime through the Backoffice.

  1. From the Merchant Edit screen, navigate to the Financial and Payment information area.

  2. Edit the banking information as needed.

  3. Click Save. You will be asked to confirm the information you have modified.

  4. Once confirmed, the banking information has successfully been changed and will be applicable to future clearinghouse transactions.

Clarification: If you need to modify previous clearinghouse transactions, please reach out to our DataCandy support team to validate if that option is available to you.
