Overview of how different payment terminals receive updates for the DataCandy application.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This guide provides an overview of how different payment terminals receive updates for the DataCandy application. Updates are either automatically pushed by the provider or require a manual update from the merchant.

Caution

We recommend taking action as soon as possible. Failing to do so will result in your service being interrupted starting April 2025.

Clarification

If you currently use the DataCandy solution on your POS, there is no action needed on your part. This concerns only those merchants using the DataCandy application for payment terminals.

Automatically Updated Devices

These terminals receive updates directly from the provider. If the DataCandy application is not visible by the expected date, contact your provider or DataCandy support.

DataCandy Provided Newland SP630 (New Version 4.52)

What You Need to Do:

  • Print a Configuration Slip: This will include details needed to reinitialize your terminal after the update. See instructions below.

  • When you are ready to update, restart the terminal to trigger the download of the new application version.

  • Reconfigure your Wi-Fi settings.

  • Contact DataCandy Support to reactivate the terminal application using the Initialization Code(Can be found at app.datacandy.com under merchant or by contacting support) and Merchant Password from your configuration slip.

Elavon

Newland N910 (Version 4.52)

Update via POYNT Market Place

Please note:

  • The device checks for a new version of an app and any other software updates during the maintenance window (which is at night). Some devices have already auto-updated to v42.

  • If the devices are not kept online and connected to the network during the maintenance window, it will not auto-update the app version.
In this case, the best way would be for the merchant to manually go and check for an update under Settings > Software Updates > Check for Software Update
