E-Gift Portal Security

Find out more about Paysafe's security rules available for the payement processing on your DataCandy e-gift site.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

DataCandy's e-gfit site integrates with Paysafe's Netbanx payement processing. To protect your transactions, Paysafe will automatically apply:

  1. 3DSecure authentication to your account

  2. Will make sure that domains and addresses already deemed fraudulent cannot complete a purchase.

  3. AVS (Address Verification System) check. When a mismatch occurs (if the billing address provided by the customer does not match the address on file with their card issuer) the transaction cannot be completed.

3D Secure

3D Secure is an online payment security protocol that adds an extra layer of authentication by verifying the cardholder's identity with their bank before completing a transaction. Note that not all credit cards are automatically enrolled in this service; some of your customers might need to inquire with their financial institution to ensure that they can be authenticated through 3DS.

3D Secure shifts liability for fraudulent chargebacks from merchants to the card-issuing bank when transactions are successfully authenticated. This protection applies as long as merchants follow proper protocols and the cardholder verifies the purchase. However, merchants remain liable for chargebacks caused by issues like product disputes, delivery failures, or processing errors.

With your DataCandy e-gift site, you are able to decide if you wish to accept un-authenticated cards or if you wish to waive that restriction up to a certain amount, for Visa and/or Master Card transactions.

By default, your e-gift site settings are configured to:

  1. Not accept any transactions from non-authenticated Mastercard cards, as the merchant is usually liable for fraudulent transactions from cards or banks that are not enrolled with Mastercard SecureCode.

  2. Accept transactions from non-verified Visa cards, as the payment card issuer is usually liable for fraudulent transactions from cards or banks that are not enrolled with Verified by Visa.

Clarification:

  • If you wish to change these default settings for Visa and/or Master Card transactions, please reach out to DataCandy.

Caution:

  • DataCandy does not recommend accepting un-authenticated cards. If you are experiencing a high number of refused transactions on your e-gift site, we recommend setting an amount limit to waive the restriction instead. You can also verify if your account has any of the optional security rules configured and edit the applied limits.

  • There will be no liablity shift if chargebacks occur from waiving the restrictions, as those trasactions might not have been authenticated through 3DSecure.

Optional Security Rules

You have the choice to add additional security rules to the payment processing done on your DataCandy e-gift site. These rules allow you to add more validations on transactions frequency and source.

These rules can be activated upon request by Paysafe, by:
